Winemaking

Manual grape harvesting and selection, berry by berry, at the sorting table. Maceration and fermentation in 500-liter French oak barrels for 10-12 days. Subsequent aging for 15 months. Further refinement in the bottle.

Tasting note

It's a delicate wine, with low intensity and a soft color, yet it carries very refined aromas of pipe tobacco, mint, coffee, and ripe fruit. On the palate, there's a velvety tannic structure, with a lively acidity that provides a lot of freshness and elegance

Food pairing

Pork or veal fillet. It also pairs well with oily fish or complex dishes.

Characteristics

Belat is one of the most exclusive wines from Albet i Noya. A unique red wine resulting from an experimental project by Albet i Noya aimed at recovering pre-phylloxera varieties initiated by Josep Maria Albet in the late 90s. Belat comes from 'velat,' meaning something that was covered by a veil – in this case, the veil of time – and it produces a wine that especially recalls the great Pinot Noirs of Burgundy or the Barberas from Piedmont
