From our best xarel·lo, harvested by hand in the vineyard of El Bosc Negre (The Black Forest), at an altitude of 400 metres above sea level, this wine is the essence of the Ordal Mountains. El Bosc Negre is a skin-contact Xarel·lo that has been selected berry by berry and has undergone fermentation and ageing with its skins in French oak barrels.
This is a white wine with intense aromas of orange peel, honey and medicinal herbs typical of the Mediterranean. In the mouth it is voluminous and long, with a bitter finish characteristic of the variety. The contact with the skins and its time in oak barrels give it fine tannins, ideal for pairing with baked meats such as lamb or suckling pig. It is also an ideal wine to combine with strong cheeses.
El Bosc Negre (The Black Forest) is a vineyard of small dry stone terraces in the Ordal Mountains. It is our highest vineyard (400 metres above sea level) and was planted in 1962.
Its boomerang-shaped structure gives the vineyards an interesting double exposure to make a rich and balanced wine. Part of the terraces face east, towards the Ordal pass, and the other part, west, towards the Penedès plain.
The whole estate is surrounded by forests and typical Mediterranean vegetation, which gives the wine a special character. At the top of the estate there is a monument dedicated to dry stone art, the work of Víctor Mata and the Subirats Study Centre.
