La Milana

Vintage

2021

Winemaking

Hand-harvested and grape-by-grape selection on the sorting table. Cold maceration and fermentation for 8 days. The grape varieties undergo 4 months of aging separately in oak barrels, and after blending, they spend an additional year in new French oak barrels.

Tasting note

The wine has a deep cherry picota color and a high layer. It boasts powerful and expressive aromas of fresh, red fruit, with a background of creamy oak, cabinetmaking, fine cocoa, and balsamic notes. On the palate, it is fruity, powerful, full-bodied, and balanced in terms of acidity and tannins.

Food pairing

Full-bodied red wine with character. Perfect with aged beef, game meats, mushroom stews or duck with figs. Also pairs well with aged cheeses.

Characteristics

La Milana is a wine originating from our Can Milà de la Roca estate and is a tribute to the former owner of the farmhouse, who was in charge of working the land and was popularly known as La Milana. The wine comes from a group of parcels located on this estate, with a 100% character of the Muntanyes d'Ordal. It is an elegant and fresh wine, but with a lot of character, a wine to savour and, if desired, to keep to observe its brilliant evolution.

La Milana

The vineyards

La Milana is much more than a wine — it is a living tribute to the landscape and the people who have given it meaning. A homage to the woman who, with her own hands, cared for the Can Milà de la Roca estate for years, and an authentic expression of the terroir surrounding this ancestral home in the heart of the Ordal Mountains.

This wine is born from the vineyards that surround the house, rooted in exceptional soil: a vast limestone slab that stretches over 300 meters beneath the estate and gives it its name. This imposing rock, visible in many spots, imprints the vines with a unique personality and defines the wine’s mineral, tense, and profound character.

The name La Milana refers to the estate’s former owner, the wife of Mr. Milà, who was affectionately known by this nickname. Thanks to her devotion and love for the land, today we can enjoy a wine that embodies history, character, and authenticity.
