Albet i Noya won two medals in the Catalan Wine Awards Vinari
The unusual blend of Brut 21, made with 50% Chardonnay and Parellada grapes, won over the jury of the Vinari awards, who gave it their highest honour in the category of reserve sparkling wines. And that wasn’t Albet i Noya’s only award that night from the Vinari, as its red wine Syrah Col·lecció also took a silver medal
The 8th edition of the Vinari Awards (considered the best wines of Catalonia) was a blind tasting of over 850 references from 240 Catalan wineries. This year, the gala was held in the Auditorium of Vilafranca with strict safety measures, and the hosts were the writer Màrius Serra and actor Toni Albà.
The brut 21 is a special sparkling wine that was created to celebrate the new millennium in the year 1999. The surprising proposal, with a blend that was very unusual at the time, was so popular that consumers asked for it not to be just a special edition, but for Albet i Noya to make it into a new line of sparkling wines. It was soon followed by Brut 21 Barrica, made with Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, with a short stay in French oak casks.
