El Corral Cremat

El Corral Cremat

Hand-harvested and hand-selected grapes in 300kg bins, which we let cool in the cellar for 24 hours. The grapes are pressed whole and in an inert gas atmosphere. Second fermentation in the bottle following the traditional method. Aged with its lees for ten years.

Tasting note

Intense aromas of yeast, pastry, wildflowers, and aromatic plants. On the palate, it is voluminous, with fine bubbles and a finish of fresh herbs. A Mediterranean character that only our Xarel·lo grapes can provide.

Food pairing

It's the wine for special occasions and pairs well with holiday cannelloni, roast chicken, or duck with pears.

The Corral Cremat vineyard is part of a group of plots surrounded by forests in a small valley in the heart of the Ordal Mountains, at almost 400 meters above sea level. It's a natural amphitheater facing south, receiving very few hours of sunlight, resulting in a very slow grape ripening with high acidity, ideal for making long-aged sparkling wines.

Decanter Awards 2023: 97.Best In show
Here’s the perfect bottle to introduce those in the fine-wine community to the potential of Catalunya’s fine sparkling wines (...)This pure-Xarello wine from the 2012 vintage is straw-gold in colour. Fruits? Look out for yellow stonefruit in place of apple and grape – yet there’s a huge amount to enjoy, too, in the wine’s allusions to meadow grasses in high summer, to sweet crumble toppings, to the perfumes of wild flowers.

The Catalonian sparkling-wine scene is in full ferment at present, with a huge range of ground-breaking wines finding their way to market -- though a glance at the vintage date on this wine shows that this is a revolution that has been in the making for over a decade now. The wine is pale-gold and fine-beaded. That heady scent of dry grasses, cream, herbs and wild flowers could only come from Xarel-lo, and only from Catalonia, too, with all its Mediterranean distinctiveness. The wine is mouth-filling, dry and structured, as perfumed on the tongue as it is in the glass, and ideally suited not only as a head-turning aperitif but for mealtime use, too.
